Malar Mounds (Malar Oedema)

Subcutaneous fat in the cheekbone area can be affected by persistant oedema. There is usually a clear border between these "malar mounds" and the lower eyelids and adjacent areas of the cheeks.

In this patient, only this area was treated under local anaesthesia by subdermal induction of heat with a radiofrequency current.

Age category: 50 -54 years.
