Sagging lower eyelid (ectropion)

This gentleman's ectropion was an ageing phenomenon. Because the tears were not evacuated properly there was not only irritation, but also running eyes. Under local anaesthesia the sagging, outer corners of the eyelids were pulled up and reattached more firmly to the bone. Just next to the opening of the tear duct, a small piece of eyelid border was removed to tighten the border. After the correction both the irritation and the watering of the eyes disappeared.
