This lady developed progressive sagging of her upper eyelids by weakening of the muscle that opens the lid. Under local anaesthesia the attachment of the muscle to the eyelid border was shortened.
Patients suffering from a light version of this disorder often present with fatigue in the eyelids and the forehead, amongst other reasons because the frontal muscles have to work continuously to assist eyelid opening.
After the correction the frontal muscles can relax, which may slightly drop down the eyebrows.
