When, during eyelid closure, an eyelid rolls up inwards, the eyelashes irritate the surface of the eye.
Among others, the most common reason of this problem is ageing of the tissues with los of rigidity. Generally, the treatment is surgical under local anaesthesie. Frequently, several tissue layers are cut a few millimetres below the eyelid border and sutured in a slightly differen position. Sometimes it useful to attach the outer corner of the eyelids more firmly to the orbital margin (canthopexy).
This treatment is covered by Belgian public health insurance.
