Abdominal Muscle Correction

This lady suffered from important weakening of the abdominal wall after two pregnancies. Normally, the middle vertical third of the tummy is contained by the straight (rectus) muscles. In this patient, the two muscles were separated 10 centimetres and only connected by a thin layer of connective tissue.
Nevertheless, there was little skin laxity. There was no skin fold over the pubis. Therefore, for functional and aesthetic reasons, an endoscopic operation was performed through 4 centimetre incisions through the belly-button and at the upper border of the pubis. The muscles were reattached at the midline. Some skin excess in the upper half of the tummy was preferred over the large scar caused by classic abdominoplasty.
Age category: 35 - 39 years.
