Capsular Contracture: Removal of Implants and Lipofilling

This lady had developed capsular contracture on both sides. This is a complication of breast augmentation with implants. It consists of excessive scar formation with contraction around the implants.
The patient's own fat cannot provide the same volume in one operation as a breast implant. However, lipofilling does treat the unnatural look of the contracture.
Fat was harvested for lipofilling by gentle liposculpture from the waistline and the hip. The implants were removed. The fat was purified and injected in the natural fat of the breasts.
