Injections of PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) to Enhance Scar Maturation

A grinding wheel accidentally lacerated the left eyebrow, the upper and the lower eyelid, the cheek, the lip and the underlying bone. The torn wound margins were cleansed, excised and sutured. Pronounced hardening and redness ensued after a few weeks. The retraction of the scar interrupted the natural curve of the upper border of the upper eyelid and and pulled on the lower eyelid.
An attempt was made to improve scar maturation by two sessions of PRP injections, with an interval of one week.
It is not possible to determine to what extent the injections improved natural scar maturation in one individual. Nevertheless, clinical research on groups of patients has shown the positive effects of this treatment.
