Upper and lower eyelids, ptosis

This lady presented with different problems. There was excess of wrinkly skin to both upper and lower eyelids. Additionally, there was a partial detachment of the muscle that opens the upper lid from the lid margin. Hence, the eyelid border covered the upper half of the pupil ("ptosis"), and the skin fold over the upper eyelid was positioned much too high. Third, there was dark discoloration of the eyelid skin.
The treatment consisted of two operations and skin care. Excess skin was removed from both the upper and the lower lids. Second, the eyelid muscle that raises the lid was reconnected to the lid margin (ptosis correction). In the crow's feet area there is still some loss of pigmentation a few months after the operation. Generally, this improves spontaneously. The treatment of the dark pigmentation of eyelid skin is non-surgical with depigmenting creams. Complete correction of skin colour is rare, but improvement is possible.
