Eyelid correction: ptosis

This patient did not only complain of skin excess on the upper eyelids. The position of the eyelid margin was also to low, restricting vision.
Excess skin and muscle were removed from the upper eyelids. The attachment of the muscle that opens the eyelids (levator palpebrae) was shortened. All layers of the eyelids were attached to each other at the level of the natural eyelid crease.
This operation can cause significantly more swelling than a routine blepharoplasty for aesthetic reasons, as can be seen on the images three months after the procedure.
Age category: 65 - 69 years.
