This lady developed progressive sagging of her upper eyelids by weakening of the muscle that opens the lid, more on the left than on the right. Under local anaesthesia the attachment of the muscle to the eyelid border was shortened.
The forehead (frontal) muscles lift the eyebrows and are accessory muscles for eyelid opening. When the upper eyelid functions well, the forehead can relax and the eyebrows drop a bit.
Age category: 55 - 59 years.
