Upper and lower eyelids, ptosis

This lady presented with several problems. She had excess of wrinkly skin on both upper and lower eyelids. There was a loosened attachment of the muscle that opens the upper eyelid. Hence the eyelid border covered the upper half of the pupil ("ptosis"). This changed anatomy is also responsible for the hollow appearance of the upper eyelids. There was excessive brown pigmentation of the skin of the lower eyelids.
The treatment consisted of two operations and skin therapy. Excess skin was removed from the upper and lowere eyelids. The muscle that lifts the eyelids was reattached to the eyelid border (ptosis correction). In the crow's feet area there is still some loss of pigmentation a few months after the operation. This usually recovers spontaneously. The treatment of the pigmentation is not surgical.
